Have you always wished ComicCon would come to South Florida? While not directly associated, Palm Beach County has its own rendition of the international comics festival. The third-annual PalmCon, otherwise known as the Palm Beach County Comic Book and Collectibles Show, is sure to energize you with renowned guests, indie films, the Carolina Ghostbusters' ECTO-1 replica, and the Art of Akira Exhibit, for starters.
Thanks to a larger space to accommodate its growing popularity, fans will be graced with the presence of screen actor Deep Roy. Although Roy is no stranger to genre films, only unwavering sci-fi trivia fans know that he's the only actor who has appeared in the three prominent science fiction franchises of our time: Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Star Wars.
But Roy won't necessarily steal the limelight, as other industry leaders will be there to strut their stuff. PalmCon is equally thrilled to host illustrator Ethan Van Sciver, cocreator of Baldo Carlos Castellanos, Golden Age staff artist Allen Bellman, and legendary comic book artist Jose Delbo.
Let your inner geek come out to play on Saturday at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, located at 650 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach. The fun lasts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Presale tickets are available at cosmictimes.net/palmcon.html for a discounted price: $7 for adults and $4 for kids. Tickets at the door are $9 for adults and $5 for kids. Children 3 and under get in for free.
