There was a time when Charlie Murphy was probably best known as “Eddie’s brother.” But then came Chappelle’s Show and its popular “Charlie Murphy’s True Hollywood Stories” sketches, which included the now-classic lines “I’m rich, bitch!” and “Cocaine’s a hell of a drug.” That show may be gone, but Murphy carried on with his online series Charlie Murphy’s Crash Comedy on Crackle.com, which he refers to as “sketch comedy without restrictions.” Judging by the oddball humor in skits like “Airline Security in 20 Years” and “Backshot Tattoo,” it’s a pretty accurate description. Remember: The internet’s not censored — and neither is live standup, for that matter. True, catching live standup isn’t as convenient as sitting in your drawers in front of the computer, but fortunately, you’ve got the entire weekend to check out Murphy’s act as he takes the stage at the Palm Beach Improv (550 S. Rosemary Ave., West Palm Beach) starting Friday night at 8 through Sunday. Tickets cost $27.69 plus a two-drink minimum. Call 561-833-1812, or visit palmbeachimprov.com.
