The NBA announced recently that Dwyane Wade’s jersey is its top-seller in Europe, which, considering how many European players are spotting up and shooting on American courts these days could be considered a minor coup. Also among the top 10 were a Spaniard (Pau Gasol), an Italian (Andrea Bargnani) and two Frenchmen, Tony Parker and Boris Diaw – to mention but a few who have crossed the pond.

If jersey ownership is a sign of attempted player empathy, then it stands to reason that the best-selling European’s jersey in Europe is that of Parker, whose reigning champion San Antonio Spurs will close out the Miami Heat’s preseason schedule. Wade may have graced the cover of GQ, but Parker, no slouch, is a mainstay on those selfsame, self-involved pages. He’s married to the shimmering Eva Longoria, of Desperate Housewives fame. Oh, and last season Parker scored more than 20 points a game in the playoffs and became the second point guard since 1990 named Most Valuable Player in the Finals – so yeah, he can hoop, too. See him (and maybe, in the stands, Longoria) at the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets begin at $10. Call 786-777-4667, or visit www.heat.com.
