Alisa Valdes-Rodriguez might have burned a few bridges when she resigned from the Los Angeles Times (which she accused of genocide for using the term Latino). But that was before her novel The Dirty Girls Social Club became a New York Times best-seller. Since then, the New Mexico native has been named “Woman of the Year” by Latina magazine (there’s that word again), one of the most influential Hispanics in the United States by Time and Hispanic Business magazines. Valdes-Rodriguez’s latest novel, Make Him Look Good, is set in Miami. So it’s only appropriate her book tour includes two stops in Miami this Tuesday. The first is a 4 p.m. visit to the Miami Dade Library’s Key Biscayne branch (299 Crandon Blvd., 305-361-6134).
