Certain events just kick off the holiday season: the tree-lighting in Rockefeller Center, clearance sales on strappy sandals at your favorite secret shoe spot, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular Starring the Rockettes. Sure, as a girl you wanted to be a Rockette. Now as an adult you’re still tempted to abandon your cubicle, grab a collection of multi-hued fishnets, and throw your arm over the last shoulder in the row, and whisper “take me with you” – but you aren’t qualified. To join, your legs must be able to unhinge at the hip like a snake’s jaw, and fling about with metronome-like accuracy.

Honestly, it’s for the best. Without that pesky pressure to stay limber, you’re free to follow your other, truer passions: cocktails and snacks. Both of which can be consumed Wednesday night at the Broward Center when the awe-inspiring Rockettes perform, just for you. Best of all, this performance benefits Special Olympics of Miami Dade County – so while you may not be Gumby in high heels, you can show off your nimble generosity tonight, in more sensible shoes. Showtime is 7:30 p.m. Tickets/Donations cover all sponsorship levels: $39 to $5000. Call 305-406-9467, or visit www.somdc.org.
