Dig those vinyl, latex, and mesh costumes and ensembles - the ones you probably haven't worn in years - out of the closet, because Black Friday, a weekly Fort Lauderdale-based party geared toward the local goth scene, will be hosting a midnight madness event at Green Room nightclub. Black Friday presents the latest Midnight Market, which, unlike those of the past, is geared toward "the counterculture, or goth, scene, which is driven by elaborate ensembles and costumes," said host and resident Black Friday DJ, Mike LinderSMASH. These theme parties usually involve theatrically obscure and specialized fashion, most either handmade or hard to come by. Instead of dropping an entire week's pay on one outfit, Midnight Market is a flea market for goths who are also invited to bring their own items for sale or trade, making the event a catalyst for an exceptionally vibrant alternative community. Midnight Market is hosting roughly 15 vendors throughout the multilevel venue. DJ LinderSMASH and DJ Kaos also welcome guest DJ Alex Dalliance on the ones 'n' twos and tarot card reader Maricruz Gonzalez, who will be dishing out fates and fortunes all night. Green Room is located at 109 SW Second Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Doors at 10 p.m., and admission (for those 21 and up) is free, with two-for-one drinks till midnight.
