Here’s a helpful tip: Did you know Amazon.com has a huge assortment of liver cleansers available for purchase online? You can get a liquid delivery starting at just $12.25, or a supply of complex capsules costing over 26 bucks. But price is not a factor here; you’ll need the best detox system money can buy. Why? Well, because your poor little liver is going to need all the help it can get after the Paul and Young Ron present New Times Original Beerfest comes to town.

Yessir, the 11th annual incarnation of New Times’ tribute to all things malty and hoppy has arrived, taking over the entire block of SW Second St. between SW Fourth and SW Fifth Avenues, and the adjacent Esplanade Park in Fort Lauderdale. This year’s festival will feature over 150 beers for sampling, from your standard, ass-kicking indie brews such as Flying Dog Tiger Bite, Florida Beer Company’s Key West Sunset Ale, and Sierra Nevada, to rare and hard-to-find micros from the likes of Brooklyn Brewery (crafters of the 9% Golden Ale, Brooklyn Local 1) and Gordash Brewing Company (the Fort Lauderdale producers of Holy Mackerel). The spread will be plentiful and – get this – unlimited. Yep, you beer lovers can drink all the frothy booze you want (provided you’ve got a designated driver handy and you’re, ahem, drinking responsibly) for just $25 at the gate, $20 online. There’ll be bitchin’ tunes to drunkenly groove to courtesy of the Dave Matthews Tribute Band, Madame Turk, and Baker Act, and loads of food to keep the munchies away from vendors like Jax House of Ribs, Jet’s Pizza, and Red Hot Shack. For $50 you can join the VIPs in the Crown Wine & Spirits Pub, where you can hang with radio jocks Paul and Ron and sample their personal brew crafted by BX Beer Depot especially for the fest. The celebration runs from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday night, but tickets are limited! Visit www.browardpalmbeach.com.
