Chances are, writer David Pumo and actor Moe Bertran would still be creating great theater together even if they were not legally married. But after taking advantage of last year's gay-marriage legalization in New York, the opportunity to complete a show as wedlocked stage professionals must have seemed that much sweeter. The show in question is Love Scenes, a solo showcase for Bertran that has received raves from media outlets in London, New York, and San Francisco. Bertran plays six characters, from a young hustler to a Broadway producer to a drag diva and a martini-swilling 60-something. Exploring the gay experience in all its colors, the show arrives in South Florida courtesy of the perennially active Empire Stage, which is quickly becoming a year-round source for risque theater. Love Scenes runs until July 1. Empire Stage is located at 1140 N. Flagler Drive in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $25. Call 954-678-1496, or visit empirestage.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 5 p.m. Starts: June 7. Continues through July 1, 2012
