Some people like toe-tapping to the blues, and others are moved by traditional gospel hymns. Still others like music, such as hip-hop and reggae, that makes them want to dance. Whatever music it is that touches your soul and gets your blood pumping, the Grammy Award-winning female a cappella group Sweet Honey in the Rock will be sure to provide the sound you are seeking. On Friday at 8 p.m., enjoy the final performance in the Cultural Explorer Series at the Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark and listen to Sweet Honey as the group combines the sounds of blues, spirituals, traditional gospel hymns, rap, reggae, African chants, hip-hop, and ancient lullabies into one concert. Sweet Honey's many accolades include releasing more than 20 albums and performing for President Obama and the First Lady in the White House.
The Miramar Cultural Center/Artspark is located at 2400 Civic Center Place on Red Road in Miramar. Tickets cost $35, $40, and $45. Call 954-602-4500 or visit miramarculturalcenter.org.
