The RaZoo Gallery is popping open the top and expanding. Home to typically outsider art, RaZoo will now have two locations. Along with several international art galleries, RaZoo is moving on up and into the Las Olas Arts Center (600 SE Second Ct., Fort Lauderdale). In hopes of being a "permanent art Basel," the art center will offer a varied palette of arts with works by internationally known artists, as well as local artists. To celebrate the move, RaZoo gets a helping hand from neo-expressionist painter Peter Keil and the grand opening of "Unseen Works by Peter Keil." Starting out in postwar Germany, Keil answered the question, "Who are the people in your neighborhood?" by painting their likenesses in bars and clubs for a few extra bucks; it turned out the neighbors were mostly of the down-and-out variety. Often exposing the seedier side of reality, Keil's portraits of drug addicts, thieves, and whores in bold and cheery primary colors offered a sunny-side-up view of the dreary reality of city life. Now that the Palm Beach International Film Festival has closed shop for the year, some of you may be jonesing for a night of independent short films. Well, jones no more. For the second year in a row, the Palm Beach Institute of Contemporary Art's Cine al Fresco is holding its Flick Fest event, offering the films of local middle and high school-age students. The films, which run anywhere from 39 seconds to five minutes in length, include documentaries, public service announcements, experimental pieces, and self-portraits. Film critics and industry professionals are dropping in to check out the 45 entries submitted by the budding young filmmakers and awarding prizes for the best of the bunch. The screenings are shown adjacent to PBICA (601 Lake Ave., Lake Worth) on South "L" Street. You should probably bring something comfortable to sit on. Yale-educated shutterbug Laura Burns once shot photos in the bedroom of her acquaintance Teri Rueb, and Rueb later wrote of the experience, "I set down my teacup and turned around to find her taking her clothes off... She slipped eagerly between the sheets... Somehow I had imagined her lying neatly and primly in my bed, covers pulled up to her chin. This was not the case." Burns seems to know a lot about "Intimacy and Discomfort." Her work is featured in an exhibit by that name at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood (1650 Harrison St.).
