Comedians starting out in Broward have a tough gig. Rookies looking for a start have few places to go outside of Grandma's living room. But in an unassuming Oakland Park strip mall, a fledgling comedy club is changing that. Named for the standup mecca in upstate New York, Catskills Comedy Club gives budding comedians a chance every Thursday with its Endless Open Mic Night. Everybody funny; now you funny too. Starting at 7:30 p.m., anyone with the courage to stand onstage can sign up for his five minutes of fame, regardless of experience. They call it endless for a reason: The show goes on until the last comic wraps. Admission is free with a two-drink minimum at the cash-only bar (there's an ATM on-site). In the past, as many as 90 people have packed the audience. Try fitting that many people into Grandma's. The Catskills Comedy Club is located at 840 E. Oakland Park Blvd. in Oakland Park.
