The holidays are over, but you just can't seem to let them go: The frenetic activity, the constant parties and holiday jingles, the unnecessarily cheerful people all conspired to fill you with the warm glow of the season, and you just want to hold on to that feeling. Maybe it's time to look outside the holidays of our white-washed Western culture. For instance, the theme of this month's Art Nouveau event at Respectable Street (518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach) is Chinese New Year. It's the year of the dragon, and you can bet live body paintings by Devious Body Art will explore that motif to the fullest. Melissa Brouard will perform a traditional geisha fan dance, and there will be a martial-arts demonstration as well. Art Nouveau is the standard-bearer of the local art scene month in and month out. There will be more than 25 local artists displaying their wares, from jewelry to paintings, T-shirts to amigurami dolls. Peruse, admire, purchase, even take pictures so long as it's just a point-and-shoot camera. Enjoy the drink specials and free admission -- 21 and over, please. At the end of the evening, one of the artists will be awarded the coveted Best in Show. The event is from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Visit artnouveauevents.com.
