In the land of eternal summer, high-minded culture can be a little hard to find. Not to say we don’t have culture; it just tends to get overlooked, especially by the young. There are lectures, symposiums, art shows, and literary talks going on at libraries, museums, and galleries all around us — but against the lure of ladies’ nights, beer bars, and bands, they don’t stand much of a chance. The Norton Museum of Art (1451 S. Olive Ave., West Palm Beach) is out to change that by fusing nighttime entertainment with tours of the museum’s collections. Art After Dark is an ongoing, once-a-week nighttime happening, but this week’s is special: It’s the College Night edition. The party kicks off with College Night Trivia while local DJ Illya Tatrov provides music from 5 to 7 p.m. If trivia or dance music is not your thing, at 5:30 p.m., there will be a tour of “Outside/In,” a photography exhibit that includes works by contemporary Floridians, and at 6:30 p.m., a tour of the “Modern Masters” exhibition. Finally, Rich Kid Sound System — a local band performing a kind of hip-hop/indie-rock fusion — will perform from 7 to 9. Happy hour lasts all evening in both the museum’s posh indoor Cafe 1451 and at the food cart located in the Central Garden. Admission to the museum is $12 for adults, $5 for students who present ID — and no additional cost for the event. Visit norton.org, or call 561-832-5196.
