During the last monthly FAT Village Arts Walk, you may have walked by the quaint art studio/multi-use venue known as the World and Eye Arts Center and not hung around long enough to appreciate this space's deep commitment to every facet of local art. No worries; this Saturday provides you that opportunity with its May Coffee House Performance. In one evening, you'll be treated not only to cakes, cupcakes, coffee, and tea but also to works from every artistic endeavor -- including original works of theater, dance, adult puppetry, poetry, and film. Not to be missed is marionette performer Tom Andrew, who will showcase a minimalist marionette style by operating an insect on one string for one minute. Also a highlight is the laugh-out-loud hilarity of Rosann Pascale, whose comedic skit examines the plight of the small-breasted woman in a D-cup-fixated America. There's also an experimental flamenco performance, an extraterrestrial puppet romp, and much more on tap.
This cornucopia of art with coffee and tea happens Saturday at 8 p.m. at the World and Eye Arts Center, located at 109 NW Fifth St. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers (plus a $1 processing fee.) Call 954-540-9897, or visit worldandeye.com.
