Are you unable to hear the words San Diego without an inner voice giggling the whales vagina!? And when Blue Oyster Cult comes on the radio, do you find yourself longing for a little more cowbell?
If any of these apply, you were probably offended when Will Ferrell recently topped Forbes Magazines Hollywoods 10 Most Overpaid Stars list. Perhaps you felt a personal duty to remind the public of his greatness. To wit: his turn in 2003s Elf, in which Ferrell starred as Buddy, a man-sized orphan who flees the North Pole to find his birth father in New York City. Besides the endearingly oddball holiday spirit Elf inspires, the film explores life lessons best witnessed on screen rather than firsthand: (1) Sometimes Santa smells like meat and cheese (2) If you see gum on the street, its not free candy and (3) Sometimes your birth father can turn out to be a real choad. Relive the Elf magic when Emerge Broward hosts a screening at Huizenga Plaza (32 East Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale). The free screening is strictly B.Y.O.B. (blankets). Bring an unwrapped toy for donation to an afterparty at Brineys Riverfront Pub. Showtime is at 7 p.m. RSVP at emergebroward.org.
