Art has been around since the dawn of man. As spectators, sometimes we get stuck on the Norman Rockwells and Claude Monets of the world. But art is constantly evolving, and we can't focus only on the classics. Contemporary 21st-century artists are artists too -- real, live, walking artists whose masterpieces you can witness being created as opposed to simply hearing about. Want to take a peek inside the mind of a contemporary artist? Now is the time. The captivating, Emmy-nominated documentary Art: 21 - Art in the Twenty-First Century puts you next to a handful of new-age and contemporary artist as they ask questions of the world around them and create what they are meant to. The real bonus: The doc gives an inside look at artists Ursula Von Rydingsvard, Martin Puryear, and Ai Weiwei, who are also currently featured in the exhibition "Against the Grain" at the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale. See them in action, and then see what that energy created in one big, artsy swoop. Art: 21 - Art in the Twenty-First Century shows this Friday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale, located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd. Screenings are free with museum admission.
