Halloween has passed, but that doesn't mean you can't play dress-up and take on a different identity -- or sexual identity. Whether you prefer Barbies or G.I. Joes, gender is like Play-Doh: flexible and fun. And to celebrate this plasticity of gender in all its forms and iterations, the Pride Center will host an opening ceremony to kick off its newest exhibit, "Gender Bender the Art Show." There will be an enticing drag performance, and if you're so moved, there will also be the opportunity to bend the gender rules yourself. Makeup artists will offer complimentary gender-changing hair and makeup to test-drive life in the gender you weren't born in. As you wait for the doors to open for the newest exhibit, partake in the silent auction, raffles, and giveaways. A handful of vendors will be selling interesting commodities, from knitted flip-flops to beer koozies. Art installations throughout the building will stimulate your mind in anticipation of the unveiling. The Pride Center is located at 2040 N. Dixie Highway in Wilton Manors. The opening ceremony starts at 7 p.m. At 9:30, guests will be ushered upstairs to the Naughty Room and then led to the art show in the main gallery. Free admission.
