Auteur Explosion returns! Perhaps you’ve heard of this brainchild of Dawn Dubriel, a local director, writer, and producer, the nights at Cinema Paradiso that incorporate live music, art, special performances, and, most important, local, short film screenings. This return — number 15 — is called “Vive la Femme!” and it’s gonna be a (mostly) all-girl revue. Girlpower will be shown through the art of Katie Sottak, Fort Lauderdale darling Coma Girl, Lori Practico, Jody Leshinsky, Crissy Carroll, and yes, one male artist, Michael Colanero, but his images are all female. Later in the night, Muse Fusion will steam up the theater by belly dancing: Don’t undermine the power of ancient movement. All bands are fronted with a woman: Sick Assembled and Bitchfire will perform. Screenings begin at 11:30 p.m., showing short films and featurettes by local filmmakers Dubriel, Rose Warner, Barbara Goldman-Sarfati, Brenda Mabbit, Jacqueline Desrochers, Veronica Miranda, and Gwen Kellman. That’s a lot of ladies! The night kicks off at 9 p.m. at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $5. Visit fliff.com.
