Normally, calling someone a legend in stand up comedy is another way of introducing a comic whos past his prime and skating by on name recognition alone. Thankfully, this is not the case when you hear that the legendary Paul Mooney will be performing in South Florida. Hes written for the greatest comics of all time (Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Redd Fox), unforgettable television shows (Good Times, In Living Color, Sanford and Son), and, most recently, been introduced to a whole new audience via Chappelle's Show. As impressive as his resume is, his stand up is even funnier than youd imagine especially when there arent network censors telling him what he cant say. Itll be interesting to hear if old Mooney is back to using the N word, since he swore off of it after Kramer turned into David Duke last year. Find out if hes really gone cold turkey when he performs Thursday through Sunday at the Palm Beach Improv (550 S. Rosemary Ave., Ste. 250, West Palm Beach). Tickets cost $21.30 (All shows carry a two drink minimum). Call 561-833-1812, or visit www.palmbeachimprov.com.
