Begun in 2010 by 1976 Olympic Boxing Gold Medalist Howard Davis Jr. and his wife, Karla Guadamuz-Davis, Fight Time Promotions has become the premier mixed martial arts event company in South Florida. The duo developed a knack for scoping out local talent and giving them a stage for their hammer fists, foot sweeps, and Thai clinches. This Friday is no exception. Fight Time Promotions rounds up South Florida’s best for “Fight Time 19 : Battle of the Brave.” Ninety-nine percent of the fighters on the bill hail from Broward, Palm Beach or Miami-Dade counties. Topping this homegrown evening is Miami native Mike Rio, whose curly mane and mutton-chop sideburns earned him the nickname “The Wolverine.” Rio is fresh off a couple of tough UFC bouts and is eager to fight his way back to the prime time.
