Satan has been increasingly generous with his musical offerings. Followers were first force-fed the not-too-worshipful Beatles, then the nonblasphemers Led Zeppelin. Before hope was lost, Ozzy emerged with Black Sabbath, and Lucifer led us to new and darker music. Sabbath, with Satan’s help, inspired bands ranging from Iron Maiden to Slayer. Then he tested our faith with the false idol Marilyn Manson, but we were not fooled by the attempted commodification of our own church music. Through psychobilly, the throwback bastard child of punk and horror music, we were saved. The Monterey Club (2608 S. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale) presents a grand offering to his majesty with five psychobilly groups, including locals the Gutter Queens and Austin’s Hotrod Hillbillies. And because the promoters know how to throw a grand ball, they’ve invited the scantily clad girls of Cupcake Burlesque to tempt one and all. Doors open at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $10.
