Like other seminal punk bands of the late 1970’s, Miami’s The Eat used their bizarre and seedy cityscape to pen brilliantly satirical song lyrics. So, if the Ramones had 53rd & 3rd and Rockaway Beach, The Eat had Hialeah, corrupt cops, manatees, the Mariel boatlift, and communist radio. The Eat gigged regularly from 1978 to 1982 before disappearing. In its absence, fans from here to Japan now search for the band’s coveted 7-inches on eBay, grabbing between $100 and $800 a pop. Known for making fewer public appearances than Fidel, The Eat have planned a highly anticipated reunion show at Churchill’s Pub (5501 N.E. Second Ave., Miami) on Saturday. Joining them is all-girl troupe Fraülein which carries just as much punk clout, with guitarist Lisa Hodapp, grande dame of Morbid Opera. Jeanie and the Tits and Pitch Black Radio will also perform. Tickets cost $10 on www.ticketweb.com. Call 305-757-1807, or visit www.newartschool.net.
