Whenever any small business survives its first two years in South Florida, it’s cause for celebration. But when that business is also completely outdoors, has a mini-golf course created by local artists, and screens rare foreign films (and porn!), it’s cause for drunken revelry followed by respectful urination onto Biscayne Boulevard sidewalk trees. Yes, the Upper Eastside Garden’s Two-year Anniversary Party should be something worth celebrating: musical duo Matt & Kim are performing, Sweat Records’ Lolo Reskin is hosting, and they’re debuting a brand new garden by landscape designer Edwina von Gal, in addition to a new mural by artist Martin Oppel. Wait, let’s go back a second. Matt and Kim are performing, which is sort of like saying, “the White Stripes are performing,” if Jack White played keyboards instead of guitar and didn’t act so surly all the time. Plus there’s always the Back Nine putt-putt course.

The party is tonight at 6 at 7244 Biscayne Blvd. in Miami. All ages are welcome and free adult beverages will be served to those with licenses and passports dating from at least early 1988. Go to uppereastsidegarden.com, or call 305-984-3231.
