It was a sad day when, on September 26, legendary actor Paul Newman passed away after a devastating bout with lung cancer. Newman was a marvel on the screen — he was nominated eight times for an Academy Award, winning once for The Color of Money, and he'll be forever remembered as the lovable rebel in films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Cool Hand Luke. Perhaps even more amazing than his accomplished film career was his philanthropy. The actor oversaw over $250 million donated to charity through his brand of food products, Newman's Own, and routinely donated of his own personal funds to help needy individuals across the globe. Most of all, he demonstrated a spirit of personal responsibility that will serve as an example for a long time to come.
