Sildenafil is the cold, flaccid, clinical name for Viagra. But it’s also the title of a short film screening at the Colony Theater (1040 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach) at 8 p.m. Friday — a film about a parched wife trying to persuade her hypochondriac husband to get it up chemically.

Sildenafil was a winner last year at the Brazilian Film Festival of Miami, which is back this year, premiering a raft of new films from that sexy country in the southern hemisphere. Organizers promise that it will be attended by 15,000 people and a gaggle of Brazilian stars. Some of the flicks are intriguing without synopses: from Who’s Gonna Fuck My Wife? to The Man Who Bottled Clouds. More than 30 films are on offer from Friday, August 13, to Friday, August 20, mostly at the Colony Theater. But a lineup starring renowned actress Andrea Beltrao is running at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). And at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 21, an awards ceremony ($40 admission) is going down at the Lincoln Theatre (541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach). Film tickets cost $10 or less at both the Colony Theater and Cinema Paradiso. For movie times and more info, call 305-600-3347 or visit brazilianfilmfestival.com.
