ArtHeart's founding curator, Katya Neptune, has a generous spirit that's so refreshing in today's self-absorbed society. Neptune founded this charitable arts organization to showcase multimedia talent while giving back. Each ArtHeart event is intended to raise funds for a good cause. This Saturday's ArtHeart for Rwanda doubles as a group art show and fundraiser to aid Rwandan orphans. Inspired by her own travels to the country where Neptune volunteered in an orphanage through the Zoe Foundation, she has ever since sought to help those kids overseas. Extending her love through events like this one, attendees will see a contemporary art exhibition featuring 30, and counting, artists. Names like Lori Practico, Detourbutterfly, Gina Bentivegna, Tim Bliss, and Cary Polkovitz are showcasing works. The night will also include a video installation by Demi Pietchell, and indie crafters will peddle their bazaar. DJ Mig (former resident DJ of Green Room,) DJ Aura, and Mr. Feathers will provide some dance numbers. And acoustic strummer Corey Bost will take the stage, as will electro one-act Boxwood, folksy duo the Bows and Ties, and solo artist Keith Welsh. Riverside Market will supply beers, and Gaysha New World Sushi Bar will serve rolls and other eats. The show begins 6 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m. Saturday at FAT Village Arts District, 521 NW First Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Visit ArtHeart for Rwanda on Facebook.
