If you haven't heard of Fort Lauderdale's premier venue for all things indie, The Bubble, and you've resolved yourself to the notion that the city is just an artistic black hole, you'll be happy to know things are getting organized. The Bubble, founded by promoter power-couple Garo Gallo and Yvonne Colon, is the newest establishment dedicated to nurturing underrepresented artists and musicians. Saturday it will hold a show exhibiting works by Lisa Parrott, aka Coma Girl. Parrott creates colorful, vivid, quasi-gothic pieces featuring cat-eyed women with flowing hair and cutesy skulls. Other entertainment during the show will include Gallo’s group Dooms de Pop, a band which has become a South Florida staple over the years and has transitioned musically from a noise-rock act early on to a prog-rockin’ outfit offering a shot of adrenaline punk. Saturday is also Parrott’s birthday. So make sure she has a happy one by showing up at The Bubble (810 N.E. 4th Ave., Fort Lauderdale) at 6 p.m. Admission costs $10. There will be cake.
