We know what the slimy, blood-pumping mechanism that hangs behind our sternum looks like, thanks to the efforts of many brilliant and nonsqueamish researchers. Luckily, though, this art show isn’t about the precious, tender, hard-working organ in our chest. The felt heart will be on display for the eyes to behold at the Lover’s Art Show at Stage 84 (9118 W. State Road 84, Davie). How it manifests in the romantic area of our lives — in honor of Valentine’s Day, which — here’s your warning — is approaching fast. But all love is not pleasant: In the heart-shaped carpets of Renda Hitz Hearts, it is stepped on. Or perhaps those rugs warm us from the cold ground of loneliness? Other times, the heart appears as an expression of unspeakable joy and wonder, as in the artwork of Stacia Seskin, who found inspiration in the birth of her first child. By gazing at the way it comes through others, you may get a little closer to your own — right in time for V-Day. The event begins at 8 p.m. Thursday and is free. Call 954-474-5040, or visit stage84fl.com.
