People who say they don't like musicals are just lying to themselves. The jams are legit, and the moves are smooth. The result is a spectacle and full sensory experience. OK, we get it, though. The song and dance might not be your cup of tea. Luckily, for Broadway lovers and naysayers alike, there is one area where all can agree: The Book of Mormon. Brought to us as a gift from the heavens by the hands of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, The Book of Mormon takes the original Broadway template and turns it on its head. This rip-roaring look at religion has been touted as one of the funniest musicals of all time and has nine Tony Awards to prove it. When a show gets big enough to hit the road and leave the Big Apple, you know it's worth your time. Lucky for us, Broward is going Broadway. Round up your crew and take in this buzzed-about show, but do us all a favor and leave the kids at home. It's about to get raunchtastic. The Book of Mormon is running at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts' Au Rene Theatre (201 SW Fifth Ave, Fort Lauderdale) in the heart of the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District, through December 22. There are numerous showtimes, and prices range from $44.50 to $159.50 before fees. Visit browardcenter.org, or call 877-311-7469.
