It isn't very often that ten of the most sought-after local chefs come together to prepare a banquet of gustatory deliciousness, but once a year, this very thing happens right here in South Florida. At the W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale, ten chefs -- including Adrianne Calvo of Chef Adrianne's, Andy Trousdale of Le Bistro, and the W's own Carlos Jorge -- will cook for 100 lucky diners at Chefs Up Front. Ten tables of ten will be set up, with each chef creating a five-course meal for a table. If you are seated with Chef Adrianne, you will dine on French-onion-smoked salmon, sweet and spicy pork belly, and 24-hour braised prime short rib with tartare and whipped sweet potato.
The $200 you pay for the privilege of this intimate meal as well as proceeds from a silent auction will go to FLIPANY, or Florida Introduces Physical Activity and Nutrition to Youth, a local nonprofit that supports and implements nutrition education in Florida as part of the Share Our Strength's "Cooking Matters" Program.
The W is located at 401 N. Fort Lauderdale Beach Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, with dinner at 7. Visit chefsupfront.org to purchase your tickets, or visit flipany.org to learn more about FLIPANY's campaign.
