Several locals were sick of watching wrestling. They wanted to feel the glory themselves. They wanted to face a beefy opponent, partake in the sweaty bliss of body-slamming action. That's why the Future of Wrestling (FOW) was created -- to help turn local wrestlers or wrestling fans into local celebrities, some of whom have gone on to compete nationally. To highlight FOW's success stories, the organization is holding a New Year's Wrestle-Lution, basically an eight-match wrestling show. It will feature FOW and Live Pro Wrestling's top stars in all-out battle for dominance. Wrestling events aren't just for teens interested in pounding their best friends into the pavement with folding chairs. They're for grownups too. Head over to Veterans of Foreign War Post 2500 (814 S. Dixie Highway, Hollywood) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Purchase tickets at futureofwrestling.com for $10.
