9. Mandy Moon, Kingdoms & Crowns, and Sur Back at Funky Buddha

Mainstream music is sooo mainstream. To get your indie fix, turn off your radio, and head to Boca's craft beer Mecca, the Funky Buddha Lounge.

Here, local indie-alternative acts Mandy Moon, Kingdoms & Crowns, and Rachel Pearlstein will rock you into the night as you suck down hookah smoke and weird beer. Wear your "custom" fedora, take those Instagram selfies, and tag 'em all #anythingbutmainstream.

8. Black Friday 2 Year Anniversary

10 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Green Room Nightclub, 109 SW 2nd Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Free event. Call 954-449-1025, or visit greenroomlive.com.

On the much darker end of the counterculture spectrum is Black Friday. The Gothic, pleather- and crazy costume-friendly weekly party has survived two long years at Green Room. Founded by DJ LinderSmash with the skillful assistance of DJ Kaos, the party has brought out amazing musical acts, beautiful burlesque, suspension piercing with the hooked folks in full crazy regalia, and even held gamer-themed nights.

Providing live music for the anniversary festivities is Astari Nite and Shattered Glass Playground. Other entertainers include aerialist Tania Sofia Luna and the sexy fire dancing of Morgan La Rue. And, let's not forget burlesque performances provided by Lisa Ann and other local lovelies. To prep for the evening, wear only black all day, and play "Transmission" on repeat.

6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at ArtServe, 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Entrance is $7 pre-sale online, $10 at the door. Visit artscalendar.com.

For all you artsy-fartsy folk and aspiring street artists, take a gander at this: RedEYE art fest celebrates its eighth year of existence, commemorating talents that strive to reach street Van Gogh status. Music, fashion, food trucks, short films, a live graffiti challenge, poetry, and social commentary for visual and performance pieces will keep you occupied this Saturday night at ArtServe's annual bash.

6. Camo Party at Cowboys

8 p.m. to 2 a.m., Friday, July 19, at Cowboys Saloon, 1805 S University Drive, Davie. Free cover before 11 p.m. Visit http://cowboysdavie.com/.

Just because 4th of July ended, doesn't mean your patriotic attire has to go to Goodwill. To further celebrate (or find excuses to dress up), save at least the camo in the pile and wear your combat clothing to Cowboys Saloon this Friday.

5. Riot Act at the Dubliner

10 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at the Dubliner, 10 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale. Free event. Call 954-523-1213.

Dubliner's got a great indie lineup, week in and week out, these days, so the Riot Act, though exceptional in their sound, is part of a larger list of rocking acts the venue has lined up as of late. The duo just took to the stage at Delray's finest, Dada, earlier this week, but is sure to leave ears 'a ringing in Fort Lauderdale this Saturday night. It's time to trade in those mason jars and go for a pint of Guinness! Speaking of Dada...

4. Amore Delirium Tour Kick-Off

11 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Dada, 52 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach. Call (561) 330-3232. Free.

Amore Delirium's Facebook description reads "If Tim Burton threw a party at the Devil's summer home in the South Florida swamp, we'd be the band around the campfire." So their music is twisted? Dark? So evil, so bad, it's good? There's no way not to love this spooky, alt-coutry, folk-punk, so get ready to emote as you pound the wooden floors at Dada.

3. Battle of the Sexes Rematch at Hurly Burly

10 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at Respectable Street, 518 Clematis Steet, West Palm Beach. $10 cover. Call 561-832-9999.

Boys. Girls. Burlesque. Need we say more?

2. '80s Party

8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 20 at Speakeasy Lounge,129 N Federal Hwy, Lake Worth. Visit https://www.facebook.com/speakeasylw.

Ain't no party like an '80s throwback party. Put on your best Cyndi Lauper duds and come out for drink specials, awfully good music, and "unplanned pregnancies," as stated on the event's Facebook page.

1. Beach Day, Bonnie Riot, the Goddamn Hustle, and the Old Fashioned at Propaganda

8 p.m., Saturday, July 20, at Propaganda, 6 South J Street, Lake Worth. $5 cover. Call 561-547-7273.

Big name concerts like Dave Matthews and 311 may be dominating West Palm this weekend, but tickets are way out of your coffee-slinging price range. How the hell are you supposed to get shitty and dance after throwing down 40 bones for entrance alone?

Pay $5 to see four bands you already love at Propaganda, and BOOM! You're drunk and cutting the rug. Not to mention, Beach Day is blowing up the local scene something serious. You'll want to catch them here before they're too huge to fit into any of our intimate venues with any frequency.
