Talking about being at the right place at the

right time: If you're at Green Room Saturday at 9 p.m. -- right up until 11 p.m. -- you will be drinking a sizzling elixir -- champagne -- right

next to a giant, metal vagina. That's for free. You must only know the

password. What is it? ArtServe. What's new about this year? New Times

sponsors "Red Eye" now.

This is the "Red Eye" kickoff party. This Saturday at Green Room, it's the bachelor party. With the tunes,

the dancers, the drinkers, the youth, the older youth, and the youthful

old, Green Room is pretty much dominating Fort Lauderdale nightlife

culture right now. Even more so on Saturdays -- it's been hosting a

weekly art/music event there.

Musical entertainment will be provided by Joy Division tribute act F**k Yeah, and the Reckless Dames will take off their clothes to complete the decadent vibe.

On this night, the venue will be full of

installations, digital art of the works selected for "Red Eye" will run

across the big screen, and the blue-bike artiste will hang one of his

famous blue bikes from Green Room's ceiling. It's free, so remember the password, but that shouldn't be

too tough (hopefully they'll be a sign nearby) -- ArtServe.

Coming Friday, July 22, it will be one night,

as it is every summer, that gives life to every art form. Street artists

will graffiti-battle in front of fine-art darlings and people in body

paint. You could find sculpturists in the spoken-word room. Do painters

dance? Yes. Go. It's at ArtServe in two weeks.

Red Eye Kickoff Party. With F**k Yeah, Reckless Dames. 9 p.m. Saturday, July 9 at Green Room, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort

Lauderdale. No cover. Click here.
