Dubstep has taken Miami by storm in the last year -- hardly surprising in a city that has always loved its bass. The emergence of this once marginal sound rooted in the UK underground is due in no small part to record label/promoters Basshead Music fostering Miami's local bass culture over the years at the former Black Sheep Bar and now at various weekly parties like Shake and Get Low. This Thursday the Bassheads will be celebrating their ninth anniversary at their regular weekly haunt, the Vagabond, with a special lineup featuring, among others, local favorites Juan Basshead, Otto Von Schirach, and J-Storm, along with the Miami debut of Jakes.

Bristol, UK-based MC/producer Jakes is one of the most recognizable voices in British electronic music and has been making waves in the international scene through his own releases on the H.E.N.C.H. imprint. This soirée will double as a record release party for the new April 12 vinyl release of Bass Head/Teleport Massive by superstar Bassnectar. Come by and get your sub-bass fix this Thursday while toasting the peeps that have made Miami the city of bass once more.

Basshead Music Nine-Year Anniversary Party. Vagabond. Thursday, April 15, 10 p.m.-5 a.m. 30 NE 14th Street, Miami.
