Dreads don't necessarily equal reggae, but when it comes to the D.C. area septet SOJA's singer, Jacob Hemphill, it's a balanced hair-to-sound equation. These rootsy storytellers recently released their fourth LP, Strength to Survive, on ATO Records, a label cofounded by the very famous music man Dave Matthews.

New Times cleverly noticed this band was on the up-and-up and booked them to headline the 2014 Beerfest. The bubbly bazaar has been taking place for 17 years and is setting up shop again at the Revolution Live complex in Himmarshee.

On April 5, our paper is patterning with Isle Casino to get you drunk tipsy while tasting some badass brews. Thousands will come out to sip tiny glasses of hundreds of the finest beers from around the world. And local restaurants and vendors will provide sustenance for the buzzed. These wild times will take place between 4 and 7 p.m. in the safe, loving arms of America's Backyard.

For those very important people, paying a bit more will get you into the VIP lounge at Stache next door, with unlimited samples of liquor and more chow. But general admission will certainly satisfy the beer lovers who can handle a butt-ton of fun.
