Last year's Build a Better Block event was such a success, that the creative team behind it -- Cadence Living, a local landscape architecture firm -- decided to make a recurring biannual event. Thus, Revel on the Block was born.
By using art installments to re-imagine human habitats, they pull back the smog and misery and reveal a livable, friendly landscape; people walking where cars once drove, art hanging on once empty walls.

According to the bio on Christopher Ian Macfarlane's blog page, crapbychris.com, the young
artist is just "a dude who likes to make art." Haunted Mirror Forrest marks Macfarlane's debut exhibition and is a culmination of a lifetime spent mastering his craft. Suede Dudes, Pocket of Lollipops, Kenny Millions, and many more bands will be providing the musical delight.

ArtHeart is an art and music event that has a pulse. More than mere art parties, ArtHeart events seek to promote undiscovered artists while simultaneously raising money for charity. This year's ArtHeart aims to raise more than $18,000, for the ZOE Ministry, a relief ministry based in war-torn Rwanda, Africa, that provides Rwandan orphans with shelter, life skills, and education. It consists of two events this year -- a skate competition at indoor skate park Ramp 48 and a night of revelry at the Green Room.

No worries. Despite the name the only shooting here will be of a photographic nature. Rolando Barrero and the folks of the B-BAD invite local artists to come and participate in a creative photo shoot. Artists are invited to come in costume if they wish -- the more creative, the better -- and are also free to bring props that reference their work or medium. Photos will be taken by Andrew Colton of 3rd Day Production. Whether you're well known in the local art community or looking for a way to make friends, this photo shoot is for you.
Monday, January 30
9 p.m. to midnight. DADA, 52 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach. Free.
Our favorite bespectacled artist/musician/yogi/all-around-nice guy, Travis Newbill will bring his music stylings to the equally quirky DADA in Delray Beach this Monday. Travis promises some new songs will be added to the repertoire "inspired by Magic 102.7 in its prime" -- whatever that means. We trust Travis enough to say it will probably still be good, and you should check it out anyway. In any case, ordering the bacon-wrapped cream cheese filled dates always makes a trip to DADA worthwhile.
