Not going to make it to Coachella this year? Can't swing Bonnaroo, Pitchfork and Lollapalooza? No need to despair, the good folks over at Florida Atlantic University's student-run radio station Owl Radio -- broadcasting live each and every day straight from room 207 D in the Student Union -- have a viable local alternative: Hootapalooza. Starting at 4 p.m. today Hootapalooza assembles seven choice local acts that will surely help you get over your festival blues.
This fist inaugural Hootapalooza is the brainchild of Owl Radio's music
director Viri Lieberman and two DJs, Katie Goodwin and Lydia Bagarozza --
who organized the festival with the intent to showcase bands from FAU
and from other points in South Florida.
We know for a fact that one band, the epic-sounding Lavola, has deep FAU roots. Frontman Julian Cires is currently working on his Masters in
Commercial Music and bassist Matt Hanser seeking his Bachlelor's in
Finance from the fine Boca Raton institution.
Along with event headliner The State Of, the
other bands on tap are the Darling Sweets, The Howling Winds, Bonnie
Riot, Reverie and Myles Corvalan.
The sugar on top is that it is all free, and all ages are welcome. We
hear there are going to be some raffle prizes too. Is there any excuse
not to go? It all goes down at the housing lawn -- a nice patch of grass
between FAU's resident's halls.

4:00 - Myles Corvalan
5:00 - Reverie
6:00 - Bonnie Riot
7:00 The Howling Winds
