These days, it seems that Miami is in no shortage of bands who like to party. With endless ragers like Jacuzzi Boys and Pool Party, the town has made something of a name for itself in the category of sweaty, drunken dance-offs. Jumping into the fray is none other than the beloved Furious Dudes, who have landed an opening slot at Wednesday's Bad Brains show.

We spoke with frontman and tattoo artist John Vale, who took the time to answer some questions about the Dudes during a session at his base of operations, Ocho Placas Tattoo Co.

Through the muffled buzzes of his tattoo machine, John shed some light on Furious Dudes' followup to last year's Florida Sucks. The guys currently have an EP in the works, which is due to drop sometime during the winter of this year. Optimistically, John predicted it to come to completion in mid-October.

While things may seem quiet in the Furious Dudes' quarter these days, Vale assures us that the band is anything but inactive.

"We've been practicing a lot. We're almost finished with the EP, and we're also getting ready to record our next full-length," he says. "It doesn't have a title yet, but we have four songs finished already. I'm also pretty busy these days because I've got a baby on the way."

Yes, it's true. John Vale has created a little furious dude. He then went on to assure us that this party is far from over.

"I wasn't even going to go to the show until we got booked to play it. I'm so busy with getting ready for the baby and everything. I'm glad we did, though. It's going to be fun, and we're really stoked to play. We're a party band, and we're going to play a rad 20-minute set. Then we're going to smoke mad weed in honor of Bad Brains."

There you have it. A statement worthy of Jeffrey Lebowski himself (whom John Vale also resembles), one that is also eerily similar to the ending of The Big Lebowski. These dudes continue to abide, takin' 'er easy for the rest of us sinners.

Furious Dudes. With Bad Brains. 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, at Revolution, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $35.25. Click here.
