How to Be Cool at a Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato Concert

Taking your daughter or little sister to a Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas concert might be more bearable if you actually knew some of the words to either of the pop sensations' songs.

The two young idols (and, more recently, contentious social media headline makers) have promised a joint tour since October 2015, and chances are if you know someone below the age of 14, there’s absolutely nothing you can do to get out of the task of sitting through the two-hour spectacle.

In preparation for enduring all of the pitchy screaming and topless Nick Jonas posters, try getting hip to Lovato’s latest project, Confident, and Jonas’ album, Last Year Was Complicated — this will will be your only chance of survival.

Here are ten songs you should know before heading to the Future Now Tour featuring Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas this Friday, July 1, at BB&T Center in Sunrise.

10. Demi Lovato, "Cool for the Summer"
Demi Lovato’s “Cool for the Summer” was one of last summer’s pop anthems, and by now, you should know every word. The upbeat pop-rock song screams “cool,” and Lovato's bi-curious lyrics take centerstage. 

9. Demi Lovato, "Confident"
There’s nothing wrong with being confident, and Demi Lovato knows it. This girl-power track is full of energy and more sass than your little sister can handle.

8. Demi Lovato, "Stone Cold"
Demi’s icy ballad “Stone Cold” will easily drop summer temperatures a few degrees. This single displays Demi’s vocal range (and your daughter's lack thereof).

7. Nick Jonas featuring Tove Lo, "Close"
Nick gets “Close” with Swedish singer and songwriter Tove Lo in the first relea from his album Last Year Was Complicated. The sultry single gets sexy in both the video and lyrics. Don’t let the kids get too close on this one.

6. Nick Jonas ft. Ty Dolla $ign, "Bacon"
Nick Jonas’ “Bacon” may have upset vegans worldwide, but we aren’t mad at him, because the song is hot. It isn’t uncommon for pop to collide with rap today, so rap it out towards the end. Bacon will most likely not be provided at the concert.


5. Nick Jonas, "Chainsaw"
Nick Jonas' “Chainsaw” is a personal ballad inspired by his break up with Olivia Culpo. He admits that it’s one of the most vulnerable songs he's ever penned, so expect the kids to pour out all of their melodrama to this one.

4. Nick Jonas ft. Demi Lovato, "Avalanche"
While Lovato and Jonas will most likely perform separately, be prepared for the two to perform a duet. “Avalanche” premiered on Jonas’ self-titled second album, but Demi’s voice reigns through on the second verse. Again, be prepared for high-pitched screaming.

3. Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas, "Afterglow"
We don’t know much about this track, as it was “leaked” in 2014 and the internet did an amazing job of wiping every trace of it, but if you know the words to this one, prepare to earn some serious cool points.

2. Demi Lovato ft. Iggy Azalea, "Kingdom Come"
Demi Lovato teamed up with Iggy Azalea for the upbeat love song, “Kingdom Come.” It wasn’t a single release, but it's one of our sister’s top favorite. Many don’t understand Iggy’s verse, but if you can decipher it, feel free to rap along.

1. Nick Jonas, "Champagne Problems"
“Champagne Problems” hopefully isn’t a problem your daughter has, but that won't stop her from dancing along to this upbeat pop gem from Jonas’ latest project.
