Mike Mineo is not the sort of guy who's going to let a little messy weather get in the way of his fun. Adding to the Hurricane Irene party slate for this upcoming weekend is a show at the Funky Buddha on Friday evening. This is also billed as a "Back to School Extravaganza," so if your power lines are underground and you have some quality Wellington boots, just enjoy the night for that aspect.

Earlier this year, Mineo took a full-on plunge into the subtropic with his second album, Beach Season, and Alex Rendon wrote some entertaining words about it. While we're admiring Rendon's handicraft with words, might as well check out the piece he wrote about the night's other act, Bear in Mind.

One of the main reasons Mineo is a solid bet for a hurricane-soaked weekend is because his tunes are so sunny and positive. Take "Feel the Sun" off Beach Season to the bank.
