All right, all right. Hanukkah 2010 was officially a wrap on December 9, but don't tell the organizers for Fedstock. A highlight of the "2 days of love and nachas" is a performance by Matisyahu, a dude with hockey skills and a serious dedication to his faith. Or at least that's what Monica Uszerowicz gathered in her cover story. Beards on every page of the music section!
Then, in the extreme self-promotion department, I wrote about one of the finest acts currently (66.6 percent, anyhow) in West Palm Beach, the Jameses. For most of 2010, these three guys have done nothing but impress with a sound that their Captured Tracks label honcho compared to the Teardrop Explodes, but we'd prefer to just call Pop Warner psychedelia.
The piece coincides with this weekend's Zitfest at the Orange Door in
Lake Park, which should be a lot like a bunch of killer fringe Florida
bands playing in a venue known best for booking blues acts and
affordable pours from the tap -- or exactly like that.
As for the rest of the concerts on the horizon: Winter Bake with Big Sean at Revolution, Ben Prestage at Little Munich, Justin Bieber at American Airlines Arena, Evil or Divine: Ronnie James Dio Tribute at Culture Room, and Christopher O'Riley at Kravis Center.
