It has been a week of mixed emotions for the family and friends of Jaco and Ingrid Pastorius.

For weeks, the attention had been on a birthday celebration to herald what would have been the gifted bassist's 60th birthday at the Funky Biscuit, but things took on an entirely different light when Ingrid Pastorius passed away suddenly on Sunday from complications following a heart attack.

County Grind spoke to many of Pastorius' friends from the community since then, and plans are to turn Sunday into a double celebration of life.

Those who would like to pay their respects to Ingrid are invited to gather at the garden at her home located at 943 SE 13th Avenue, Deerfield Beach. The space will be open to guests between 1 p.m. until the evening's event at Boca Raton's Funky Biscuit. According to Ingrid's close friend Holly Spillane, there isn't a traditional service set for the afternoon, more just a time to reflect in the garden."

The Funky Biscuit's Albert Poliak had this to say about the evening's event featuring members of the Pastorius clan: "I feel very fortunate to have gotten to know Ingrid over the last couple months. She was certainly a very sweet & kind soul and I was looking forward to long friendship. I have spoken to Ingrid's family and their wish, as would have been Ingrid's, is for 'the show to go on.'"

Jaco Pastorius 60th Birthday Celebration. With Julius Pastorius, Butch Thomas, Mark Leach, John Bendy, Mike Bendy, and others. 6 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at the Funky Biscuit, 303 SE Mizner Blvd., Boca Raton. Tickets cost $10. Click here.
