It's been close to a decade since your favorite trapper's favorite trapper, Young Jeezy, made his solo major label debut with 2005's Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101. Many consider the album a classic because it helped bring Atlanta trap to the mainstream. His witty dope-boy rhymes like, "The game flows through my veins, man I can't understand it/Infatuation with the birds, I watch Animal Planet," can make you laugh on queue with his "Ha Ha!" ad lib on that Fat Joe song.
Back then, he didn't consider himself a rapper, he was a motivational speaker; and he did not do concerts, he did seminars.
In the past nine years, Jeezy has become one of Atlanta's top dogs after releasing four more solo albums -- two debuting at number one on Billboard's Top 200 -- he works as the Multicultural Advisor for Tequila Avion, helps introduce the world to California's YG, and ended a long standing beef with our very own Rick Ross prior to the release of Ross' Mastermind.
Over a month removed from his latest album, Seen It All: The Autobiography, it's clear Jeezy's days in the spotlight aren't numbered. It received favorable reviews from critics and showed the Snowman is still more than capable of reciting the tales of his "trapping" past in songs like "Holy Ghost" and "Seen It All."
He's even got former boss Jay Z rapping on there, reminding everyone who it was that introduced them to "Trap or Die" or "Me OK." Be sure to catch this motivational speaker conduct a meaningful seminar at Revolution Live this week.
Jeezy with Full Band. 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 21 at Revolution Live, 100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets cost $40 in advance, $43 day of show, plus fees. Call 954-449-1025, or visit jointherevolution.net.
