The 2010 "American Idol
Live!" tour ostensibly features the ten up-and-coming pop performers
that a feverish segment of the U.S. knows way too much about and the
rest of us wouldn't be able to pick out of a lineup. Leading the way is
Illinois native Lee DeWyze, who won the TV competition's ninth season back in May. With a gravelly voice that lent itself to soulful renditions of U2, Kings of Leon, and older rock tunes, DeWyze beat out Crystal Bowersox, another rough-hewn singer who feels at home performing tunes by Melissa Etheridge and Janis Joplin.
Joining them on tour are the remains of the top ten: Didi Benami, Andrew Garcia, Casey James, Aaron Kelly, Michael Lynche, Siobhan Magnus, Katie Stevens, and Tim Urban. With this grouping, all of whom performed in front of millions each week on the Fox juggernaut show, the upside should be great with an adoring grouping of South Florida fans in the audience -- and no Simon Cowell.
"American Idol Live!" 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at BankAtlantic Center, 1 Panther Parkway, Sunrise. Tickets cost $40.50 to $70.50. Click here.
