Livid Records' roots in the South Florida punk and rock scenes run deep. Label head Chuck Livid wrote zines and played in area bands from his early teens. So when he started his label out of Palm Beach County five years ago, he brought a similarly DIY approach to his dealings. The super-indie label releases music by a handful of passionate bands about whom Livid is equally passionate, sometimes with artwork by his talented artist wife, Helena Garcia.
Recent Livid signees are some of the most promising gonzo rock acts in the tricounty scene. Among them are the vintage scramz-reviving Bulletproof Tiger and the balls-to-the-wall Furious Dudes, who recently upstaged Bad Brains at their own show. Those two acts, plus "Icelandic" jokesters Pool Party and local punk staples To Be Hated and the Riot Act, perform at this Green Room show to fete the label's fifth birthday and Chuck Livid's 30th.
