Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar Is 15: A Video History

Following the release of Antichrist Superstar in 1996, Marilyn Manson began exploring other realms of media and made his silver-screen debut in David Lynch's Lost Highway. For the next decade, Manson was cast in an array of colorful films but rarely had any speaking parts. However, Manson contributed to the soundtracks on Lost Highway and Party Monster, making up for his lack of screen time.

In 2005, Manson told Rolling Stone that he was shifting his focus from music to filmmaking -- "I just don't think the world is worth putting music into right now. I

no longer want to make art that other people -- particularly record

companies -- are turning into a product. I just want to make art." Unfortunately, aside from a handful of cameos and minor roles, his film career has yet to take off, and his Lewis Carroll project, Phantasmagoria, has been shelved indefinitely.

We have to wonder, was he cast in films because he was the infamous Marilyn Manson? And does he owe it to the highly publicized and controversial album Antichrist Superstar? We'll never know, but here's a look back at Manson's film credits.

5. Lost Highway (1997)
Role - Pornstar #1

Credited as his film debut, Manson appeared alongside bass player Twiggy Ramirez in David Lynch's film Lost Highway. Their roles? Porn stars. Screen time? A mere 23 seconds. Not much of a groundbreaking performance from the duo. But more important, the film's soundtrack included the song "Apple of Sodom," an unused track from Antichrist Superstar.

4. Jawbreaker (1999)
Role - "The Stranger"

For Manson's second film cameo, he appeared in Jawbreaker, which starred then-girlfriend Rose McGowen. Remember her? The one who showed up on the red carpet with him wearing practically nothing. For his role as a sleazy boozehound, he dropped the face makeup and donned a handlebar mustache. Once again, not too much screen time and no speaking parts at all.

3. Party Monster (2003)
Role - Christina Superstar

Finally in 2003, Manson is granted a film role with speaking parts... well, sort of. Apart from a few babbling noises, his only line was "Do you like my UFO?" Unfortunately his drag-queen persona, Christina Superstar, gets killed off pretty early in the film. His appearance for this role is similar to the one he used in the Nine Inch Nails video for "Starfuckers Inc." Rumor has it that Manson provided his own prosthetic breasts and butt as well as the blond wig for the filming.

2. The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2004)
Role - Jackson

There isn't much to say about this scene except that it's creepy. Very, very, creepy. At least he got to speak?

1. Rise: Blood Hunter (2007)
Role - Bartender

Here, he's the all-knowing man behind the bar in this vampire flick starring Lucy Liu. Moral of the story, never point a gun at Manson.
