The idea that a guy who loved crack cocaine and singing about demons is supporting the right wing seems kind of weird to us. But, he ain't the first rock 'n roll rebel to stand behind the "moral majority." Plenty of rock stars whose fans like to trip out on illegal drugs, have pre-marital safe sex and an abortion or two if they so choose, have aligned themselves with the political party that listens to their music with disdain.
Let's take a look at five pop stars that for whatever reason (money or - money, yeah, money) like to party conservative style.
5. Dave Mustaine
This song is scary as hell. Listening to it is enough to be accepted into hell, right? But, If metal loves Jesus, does Jesus love death metal? Hell, yes.
4. 50 Cent
Back in 2005, 50 stood up for George W. Bush. He said "He's incredible! A gangster. I wanna meet George Bush, just shake his hand and tell him how much of me I see in him." Super weird. Would Bush have stood up for him? Kanye would say, "No."
3. Johnny Ramone
The guitarist of the Ramones was unapologetically Republican. When singer Joey Ramone supported Jerry Brown's run for Presidency, Johnny cringed. He even made Joey change the name of his anti-Reagan jam "Bonzo Goes To Bitburg" to "My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down."
2. Kid Rock
As a rapper, the Kid boasted big about his party lifestyle and his knack for avoiding legal trouble. Now, as an adult and countrified version of his rebel self, he is the musical voice of Romney's campaign.
1. Ted Nugent
If anyone knows how and why this guy went from tripping into the mind's eye to launching crossbows into deer, let us know.
