The idea behind Miami Summerfest is pretty straightforward: a bunch of up-and-coming local acts playing in the sweltering heat of a mostly-outdoors venue on a Sunday (that's the "summer part"). But seriously, the event doesn't start until after the sun goes down, and the acts selected so far are pretty high-quality so it should be an overall pleasant time.
The lineup to date is diverse to say the least, ranging from dance rock (Old Wives Tale) to acoustic reggae (Don Sha) to pop-punk (Haulover Drive) to experimental weirdness (Xela Zaid).
And according to the festival's web site, the organizers are still accepting submissions from bands who want to play. Click here to get the full line-up and further information.
