​There are really like three types of mixtapes: One that an artist puts out with back-to-back tracks and no DJ--usually comprised of freestyles and maybe some original songs; one that an artist puts out in conjunction with a DJ; and then there's the original mixtape format, where an actual DJ helms the tape, with a celebrity host. The DJ usually plays his or her favorite new tracks and exclusives.

This mixtape of the week follows the latter format, and comes from Miami's DJ Killa K. Part of the Street Connect DJs, he brings forth his latest offering, Dopeboy Musik Volume 16.

The tape is very Miami-centric, not only because Billy Blue and Brisco

take charge as the hosts, but because of the music--it's filled with

mostly artists that rep "The 305". Billy Blue serves as host, and has

the majority of the tracks on Dopeboy Musik 16, including "Code

Ways." Co-host Brisco also has a good number of songs and features on

the tape, including a few songs from Brisco's latest street project, OG Kush. The remainder of the mixtape is rounded out with tracks by Yo Gotti, Mista Mac, Alley Boy, HTC, Lonnie Mac and Lo Boy.

We probably could've seen a little more variety in some of the

artist selections, but overall a good mixtape to keep on-hand for them

late nights of cruising up and down your neighborhood. Download the
