Exile on Wilson Street, a nod to the Rolling Stones, is the funny name of the new release. The songs have a roots sound and a politically left message, much like those of the Boss.
In the early aughts, June performed with backing band the Dirty Doves and released the album Crooked to some acclaim. His next effort, Lovesick, with guitarist Jay Forsythe, gained the group four Asbury Music Award nominations for the title track. It also landed the band on many a "best of" list.
Once in Austin, with the Wilson Street Refugees, June recorded with some prestigious guests like three-time Austin Music Hall of Fame inductee Jon Dee Graham. They turned out the album in two days this past April, to be released on New Austin Music. The album hits the net tomorrow on Mikejune.com and NewAustinMusic.com. Be sure to check it out and make Mike, our Valentine, happy.
